The publication aims to present some knowledge about the less-known but at same time very scarce bituminous rock alginite with comprehensive practical use in form of a brief overview. Alginite is an organic-bituminous that was formed six million years ago from dead fossil algae Botryococcus braunii Kütz and diatoms area today‘s Pannonian Basin. In Europe, deposits have been discovered Hungary, Austria Slovakia Pinciná village. mining mostly used Hungary Gerce area. grey dark grey, wet state laminated, clayey disintegrating clay. has valuable physical, mechanical chemical properties. It natural favourable content basic nutrients (P, K, Ca, Mg S) for plants except nitrogen content. contains large number microelements, which increase agrochemical possibilities its use. can be applied without treatment. ecological raw material improves soil does not negatively affect environment. become subject research many workplaces. overview presents properties selected results enabled or technologically modified agriculture formation growth, development crop quality seeds fruits cultivated crops, forestry, remediation improvement water properties, decomposition herbicides, stabilization beneficial microorganisms animal organisms other areas.
